Reading Serve is an edifying experience. It is not just about the author’s proficiency of the Retail industry, but a profound exploration of ethics, customer-centricity and most importantly, service. The book delves into the essential value of serving others, in-turn offering outstanding customer experience and satisfaction. With service at its heart, the book is aptly titled.
In his book, the author Nagesh B S draws from his rich and unparalleled retail industry experience and his foundational, lighthouse work with Trust for Retailers and Retail Associates of India (TRRAIN) to explain that service goes beyond just executing customer transactions. It is a moral obligation that enriches both the giver and the receiver. Nagesh uses multiple personal anecdotes through the book that would encourage readers to think about their roles in their respective communities; and to shift from focusing on self-centric pursuits to helping others. The book isn’t just for professionals, but it’s something everyone should read to absorb the ethos of serving. Surely a learning that we all need to make a more connected society. Ritu D Ferrao co-authors this wonderful experience.
I wish the author heeds to my request of writing a book on the service aspect of the social sector, where it is a more intrinsic and expected behaviour.
