The religious Hindu month of Shravan is underway. It brings with it a brandish of holy and spiritual awakening among the followers, as they go on a mission of praying to various Gods, hoping for a reparation. Certain days and certain deities are popular than others; and Lord Shiva is the God of the month. Mondays and particularly sacred, as people go on a fast; and hope that their wishes would be heard by Him and fulfilled. A large number of people believe that it is alright to just think of Him during this month; and play merry for the rest of the year.
Of course, He does hear a few and doesn’t do the others. And then, a frustration starts creeping in. People wonder what went wrong, and if they have been praying wrongly. How often have you heard people say, “Well I did everything possible, not sure how should I pray?!” I have heard this. And to all such people, my only advice would be this – don’t pray for anything. Don’t look at Him as a barter agent, a trader. He does not need material offering from you. After all, if He is the creator, what’s the use offering the same back to Him? But He does like pure souls. Just pray without expecting anything in return; and He will give you more than you hoped for. Establish a constant communion with Him and not only during the Shravan. This holy month should only serve to strengthen the association with Him, not the only time to remember. He should always be with you. Make your body His abode; and then all your problems will automatically have an answer.
Be always with the God and He will be with you forever.
